Location Matters!
In November 2014, Boston Bioskills Lab opened it’s doors in Boston’s Seaport District. After seven years in the Seaport, we performed an extensive due diligence process to identify potential new locations for our business, including staying put, other areas in the Seaport and City of Boston, as well as locales just outside of Boston. We knew our decision was a seminal and important moment for our business, so we let the data sourced through surveys and 1:1 conversations guide our decision. Data collection centered on the development of a six-part critical business needs assessment, including: 1) client, surgeon, and employee location preference; 2) facility accessibility from major hospitals and local physician residences; 3) shipping & receiving logistics; 4) food and lodging costs; 5) traffic; and 6) parking ease.
While the intel pointed toward Lexington, it still wasn’t an easy decision. Hypothetical scenarios are no substitute for experience. Fortunately, it didn’t take long to realize we made the right decision, because of the overwhelmingly positive feedback and response from clients and surgeons alike. Any hesitation and anxiety prior to the move quickly subsided, which only left us asking this question, “Why didn’t we move sooner?”

Facility Design & Client Feedback
FACIILITY DESIGN
Our team designed the new BBL facility using a meticulous pre-planning process that aligned operational and logistical efficiencies with the unique needs of our medical device clients and their surgeon guests. The end result created a smooth and highly efficient space, beginning with client and guest check-in all the way through the moment they exit the facility. We paid particular attention on sequentially incorporating the flow to optimize the surgeon experience, see adjacent flow with Lexington facility photos.
